240-Hour Transit Without Visa — China's Longest Visa-Free Stay

Starting December 17, 2024, China extended its transit visa-free stay from 144 hours to 240 hours (10 days), covering citizens from 55 eligible countries, with entry through 60 designated ports and travel permitted within 24 provinces.

Additionally, citizens from 44 countries enjoy 30-day unilateral visa-free entry (valid through December 31, 2026), including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and more. Travelers from the U.S., Canada, and 53 other countries can use the 240-hour transit option.

📋 Quick Check: Can I enter China visa-free?

  • Hold a passport from one of the 55 eligible countries (U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, EU, etc.)
  • Hold an onward ticket to a third country/region within 72 hours
  • Enter through one of the 60 designated ports (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, etc.)
  • Stay up to 240 hours (10 days), travel within 24 provinces
